Who we are:

Bruce Peninsula Hospice (“BPH”) is committed to providing compassionate and non-medical care to support individuals and families at no cost on the Bruce Peninsula and surrounding area.

Volunteers receive specialty Hospice Palliative Care and Nav-Care training and help us provide the following services: In-home Support, Bereavement Support, Live Well at Home and Nav-CARE. The Role:

BPH is seeking a detailed-orientated and organized team player to assist us with marketing and administrative tasks to support volunteer visiting service activities. Tasks include assisting in the development of special community events, volunteer recruitment and training, digital marketing and advertising, database and web-site maintenance. Supported by the organization’s Executive Director and working with a team of dedicated, passionate volunteers and Staff members, the candidate will help promote our organizations’ services, recruit volunteers and grow our compassionate community connections and donor support. The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of digital marketing and database technologies, and a commitment to quality and confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

Responsible to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Administrative Assistant will:

  • Assist in design of promotional materials, including but not limited to special events.
  • Provide phone and email communications support.
  • Assist with a documents management digital database project.
  • Participate in external organization activities as assigned, preparing and setting up display and marketing materials.
  • Other Marketing and Administrative duties as needed.
  • Adhere to all organization policies and procedures, and respect and uphold confidentiality.
Qualifications:

Essential

Candidates will have:

  • Excellent communication skills and digital literacy;
  • Experience working with databases and file management;
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills, be a good communicator and team player;
  • The ability to organize workflow and meet deadlines under minimal supervision;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Teams, Google Drive, iOs, Android, Zoom or other video conferencing programs, handheld devices and comfortable learning new computer applications;
  • Self-motivation, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, proven ability to work remotely and forge respectful, professional relationships;
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings as needed; and
  • Integrity, sound judgment, tact, discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy as per PHIPA and a healthy sense of humour and fun!

Assets

Ideally the candidates will:

  • Have interest in community-relevant health care and community development.
  • Be creative and have experience in fundraising, marketing and volunteer management.
  • Reside within our service area and have familiarity and knowledge of the Bruce Peninsula.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Be able to multitask with adaptability and flexibility.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete assigned Hospice Palliative Care training, and provide a Criminal Record Check.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Qualified candidates must be:

  • Aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent Resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
