Annual Campaign 2024

Thank you so much for your support last year of our volunteers’ caring services on the Bruce Peninsula. As a partner in Bruce Peninsula’s Hospice Circle of Care, you have helped many local community members and families experiencing declining health, serious illness or grief receive compassionate care, at no cost. Care which includes receiving emotional support, reducing feelings of loneliness, help with practical needs, providing caregivers the opportunity to rest or run errands, as well as bereavement care.

A family member recently shared…

“Caring for my mother at home was one of the most important things I have ever done in my life – however it was not without its hardships. Having a volunteer for in-home support really helped a lot. My mother really enjoyed her visits with the volunteer. They were able to talk about the local area and past histories and she really enjoyed the company. It also helped me so much, knowing that when I was bone-tired, a volunteer was able to come in and be there so I could have a rest.”

The family member also shared how she knows our local community and how there are many older people living here, like her Mom. She shared how she wanted to help more people like she was helped and is in the process of becoming a volunteer.

We write today to ask you for your continued support, to help us meet the growing needs we see in our community.

One of the ways you can help is by becoming a monthly donor. Your monthly donation will bring sustained support and continuity of care, and you can change or cancel your gift at any time.

An annual gift, as you have done in the past, will also make a big difference to support our programs.

Ways to support us during the Canada Post strike:

Your support, whether monthly or annually, can really help us as we work to double the number of volunteers we have serving even more families in the community.

For each volunteer recruited, we must invest a significant amount of time and resources to ensure they are thoroughly screened, trained, and receive ongoing mentorship, support and continued education. Our volunteers share how meaningful they find this work. One volunteer recently said,

“I find client support truly rewarding”, and another said, “I know I am making a difference”.

In the coming year, we will be providing our volunteers with specific volunteer training to support people living with dementia and their care partners. We are grateful to be one of six organizations in Canada involved in this innovative research-based program to enhance volunteer capacity to support families with dementia, especially in rural areas.

We have also expanded our services to help clients with navigating community resources as part of our Nav-CARE service. We have added a Drop-off service for clients for essential items such as groceries or pet supplies, and we are serving even more people in their homes, to assist them in aging comfortably in place as part of our Live Well at Home program.

We thank you, as a valuable member of our Circle of Care, for making our support possible.

With your help, our caring team is only a phone call away.

However, for every family who is grateful for the help they receive, we know there are more families who could benefit. And for every new volunteer we are able to recruit and train, we know there are more people who would enjoy and find meaning in being a part of this caring work.

We truly hope you will consider Bruce Peninsula Hospice in your charitable giving this year.
Help us to help more people and families right here in our community.

Your monthly gift, or a one-time gift of any amount, will help sustain our caring support and demonstrates the power of ‘Local people helping Local people’.

Thank you so much and our warmest holiday wishes!
