Bruce Peninsula Hospice Receives Renewed Visiting Hospice Service Accreditation by Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO)
It is with great excitement that Bruce Peninsula Hospice (BPH) announces it has received renewed accreditation status as a Visiting Hospice Service. The Accreditation Committee of BPH worked to prepare their submission for the accreditation reviewers for the past two years. To pass the Accreditation Assessment Review, organizations need to receive a score of 90% or more and we did it! “A tremendous effort resulting in a very positive result. I am proud to be on such a superb team,” said Paul Lavigne, Chair. The volunteer-run organization last year provided hospice and bereavement services to over 90 families on the Bruce Peninsula and surrounding area and has their office in Wiarton.
Rick Firth, HPCO President & CEO, stated in the formal letter received. “Your participation in the accreditation process demonstrates leadership and a commitment to quality.” As stated in HPCO documentation, “The goal of HPCO’s accreditation program is to ensure the delivery of consistent, high quality hospice palliative care services throughout Ontario”. Accredited hospice organizations receive an accreditation seal demonstrating their compliance with HPCO standards in areas of service delivery, governance, administrative operations and quality assurance.
“We share this accomplishment with all the volunteers and members of the organization and community who help Bruce Peninsula Hospice deliver and support our quality visiting hospice services and programs”, said Manager, Volunteer Programs & Outreach, Nancy Forgrave.
