Volunteer profile – Janice Sim

We are proud to announce Janice Sim to be the recipient of the 2022 June Callwood Award for Bruce Peninsula Hospice. The purpose of the June Callwood award is to acknowledge and thank outstanding hospice volunteers throughout Ontario.

Janice was surprised with the nomination and feels it is such an honour to be chosen by Bruce Peninsula Hospice. “As a volunteer I just want to give my time and don’t expect to benefit myself, but I get so much in return, it enriches my whole life…it’s a good feeling, a really good feeling.”

Janice joined our team in 2012 as a home visiting volunteer. She brought compassion, care-giving experience and a wish to help people live well and stay in their homes. She became Client Care Coordinator in 2016 and her dedication includes traveling rural roads in all weather, responding to referrals quickly and supporting volunteers, clients and family members to provide caring service. She always says “Yes” when called upon and happily assists with fundraising and special events. Janice has a calm and giving nature and exemplifies commitment, caring and the spirit of hospice volunteerism.

BPH is honoured to nominate Janice Sim for this award. Our organization and our community are made stronger for her contributions and we are so pleased with her induction into the June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers.
